The term SEO is translated as “Search Engine Optimization”. This acronym brings together all the SEO techniques and optimized writing is one of them!
Search engines use indexing robots to analyze web pages and include them, or not, in users’ search pages. The objective of SEO-optimized writing is to make their task as easy as possible by providing them with texts that respond to the keywords typed by their users and by detailing the content of each page as much as possible. The page will therefore be positioned according to the quality of its writing.

Writing around a page
The editorial content around a web page is as important as the internal content of the page. It has a double utility. First of all, it serves as a gateway for indexing robots, but also as a showcase for the search page. It is advisable to choose only one theme per page. This theme is declined according to a precise and original angle. A search page consists of a title and a description. These titles allow the Internet user, at a glance, to know if the page corresponds to his search.
In a few words, it is therefore necessary to capture the attention of the Internet user and make him want to read the rest, i.e. to click on the page of your site.
The editorial content annexed to the pages is composed of :
- a choice of titles ;
- the addition of a meta description;
- a selection of one or more keywords;
SEO-optimized writing: title, meta description and keywords
The title and the meta description are two major assets for the referencing of your site. The title of your page, which can differ, if you wish, from the title mentioned on your page, should summarize in a few words the subject of the page and give a main keyword. The difficulty for the editor lies in his ability to integrate his data in a very limited space, which should not exceed 60 characters. A title that is too long will not appear completely on a web page. Moreover, in most cases, the name of the site should be added at the end of the line. This addition, although very useful, actually shortens the space available.
The SEO title may differ from the title of the page on the site.
The meta description, is also one of the first things you see in the search results. It translates into a brief summary of the article intended to “hook” the potential reader.
The keyword(s) are relevant words capable of making the page stand out on the engines. The choice of keywords is a delicate operation. It is not a question of multiplying them, but of finding the most relevant terms, in connection with the content of the page. They may be synonyms of one of the words in the title or a work on the lexical field.
Contents appendix :
- the title : 60 characters maximum, teaser containing the main keyword ;
- the meta description: 156 characters maximum, summary of the page content;
- the keyword(s): lexical field work.
Writing a web page optimized for SEO.
The body of a text optimized for SEO corresponds to a written communication approach, thought out and reflected upon beforehand. The meaning and the objective of the message disseminated in the page must be justified on the whole site. It can be new information related to the subject of the site, a report to the purpose of the site such as practical advice or news. A web page must contain a large amount of text in order to be able to send information to search engines. A minimum of 100 words is required, although this varies according to the type of content.
A minimum text volume of 300 words is required for a correct referencing. This volume varies according to the type of page.
Prerequisites for writing a page :
correct French in spelling, grammar, conjugation and typography;
a clear structure: introduction or chapô and intertitles;
no copy/paste inside or outside the site.
Composition of the web page
A web page must contain a significant volume of words. It is obviously forbidden to plagiarize the content coming from another site and even its own content. The first lines of the page constitute its catchphrase (or chapô) within the framework of an article. This teaser, which contains the main keywords and which returns to the theme of the article, must make you want to read the rest of the article. The body of the text is composed of short, well-ventilated paragraphs separated by headings (the h2 or h3 tags). The text may contain a bulleted list. This list, judiciously introduced, aims at clarifying the reading.
A regular update keeps the page alive. Keywords are presented in the body of the text in a correct way. Empty words such as “to” or “from” make them perfectly readable. By playing on the lexical field, they can be used in the singular, plural, feminine and at different tenses. They must not disturb the reading, but on the contrary, they must be inscribed in a fluid and natural way.
